Ribbon Storage Solution

Hello to all of my followers! I am very happy to see my count go up! Thanks for following me! I hope to inspire all of you!

Lately I've been in spring cleaning mode. A friend of mine showed me this blog that has an awesome storage solution! I currently own the Making Memories Embellisment Center, and loved the idea of the ribbon holders... until I emptied a spool of ribbon... Then it was PAIN!!! You had to remove the rod that the spools were on just to get that one empty spool off!

So, here's my solution:

I used the cardboard off of the back of 12x12 paper packs and cut them in 2x2.75.

I purchased my three drawer unit to hold 8 1/2 x 11 paper from Big Lots for $6.50! I thought that was a steal!

I used up the rubber bands I had left from making my sister in laws diaper cake!

So, overall, I only paid $6.50 to do this solution! This week my focus will be on storage options for your craft room... I hope to help everyone find something suitable for them!

Thinking of you Card

Below are pictures of the Thinking of you card that I made for a friend of mine's mom. She has been battling cancer, and I made a New Years resolution to send her one card a month, so this is the one for February!!! Please post comments and let me know what you think!

I used the Sizzix Big Kick Flower Layers #3, chalked the edges with Dark Brown Cats Eye Chalk Ink, Green Stickles with Crystal JoAnn's Glitter. I really like the effect it has on the brad I covered.

Sneek Peek Project

I have a sneek peek at what I am currently making right now. I'd tell you all what it is, but then my partner in a swap I am in will know what it is, and I really want it to be a surprise! I did a few close-ups and I am really happy with how things are working out on this!

I dyed my own skittles!

Good Morning everyone! I am proud of two things today- #1- I figured out how the macro function works on my camera, and number 2- I have dyed my own skittles! I am gonna try my best to post pics in the appropriate order on how I made them, so you all can do the same!


First- you will need:


Clear Skittles/ glass or plastic pebbles (you can find them at Michaels)


Alcohol Inks (I used Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Ink)


baggies or a glass bowl you don't mind getting stained


Wax Paper


optional: Perfect Pearls or Pearl Ex ( I used Ranger Perfect Pearls)


First- Take a small handful of clear skittles and put in a baggie. Then take your choice of alcohol ink and put a few drops ( I used 5 or 6). You can mix colors if you so choose. If you'd like them pearlized, then add some perfect pearls to the baggie as well.


Second- Close the baggie and shake or use your fingers to get all the alcohol ink and Perfect Pearls mixed really well.


Third- Dump out the skittles onto wax paper. Make sure they are one layer and not piled on top of eachother, because they will stick.


Last- Let them dry for about 15 minutes. Enjoy!



Below are my results! I really like how they turned out. My first batch with perfect pearls didn't have enough of the perfect pearls, so the second batch I made I added a bit more. I like how they turned out. There are some examples below on how I used my skittles as well.

Snowed in...

Well, the storm has finally passed... on the weather that is... I tell ya, when it rains it pours! Just after Thanksgiving I got into a car accident, and then 2 days after Christmas my husband got into a car accident, well NOW the axle broke on our plow truck! I TELL YA, WHEN IT RAINS IT POURS!

We had high winds and lots of drifting snow today. We have about 12 inches of snow. I have to admit I am glad to not be on the east coast right now! They sure have been getting the brunt of the snow this year! I just wanted to peek in and let you all know that I am still here, and have had a lack of crafting due to lots going on in my neck of the woods.

Please be patient, and I hope to have something done tomorrow!

Trying out for Design Team

Altered Oatmeal box

I gave this to my partner in a Girls I'm Broke Box Swap! I really like how it turned out! The tags hanging are made out of paper bags! I stuffed it with little gifts and goodies! I sprayed it with a high gloss spray. I used K &Co. paper to cover it.

A few Christmas cards I made...

Here are a few of the Christmas cards I made for my family! I hope you all enjoy! I really like how most of them turned out!

I have a tilda image throwing a snowball... I colored her with prismacolor pencils using the gamsol technique... Gosh I sure do love coloring now! Ha ha!

snowflakes were cut out of the cricut, and the dotted backgrounds on all three have swiss dots with the cuttlebug...

The other two had a stamp that I bought at a garage sale! Gotta love great finds!

They all have ribbons on, the green ribbon is Stampin Up grossgrain ribbon... I love this type of ribbon!

My son turned two!

Well, my one and only son, Alex, turned two on January 2nd! I am almost a month behind updating that! WOW! Please forgive me! I will do my best to update my blog more often! It's alot harder with 3 little ones in the house! I'm gonna post some pics of his bday party and the cake I made. It's not the best, had to run to the store 3 times to get good frosting, no time to make the homemade stuff... enjoy!

Okay, so I put this book together in 2 days! I really like how it turned out!

Josh and Aly got married on December 5, 2009. They are great friends of ours and are now expecting their first child! I am happy to see them so happy! Congrats you guys!

Hello to all my Followers!

I just looked and saw I have 20 followers! WOW!!! I am impressed! I remember when I was soooo excited to have 5!

I apologize to all of my wonderful followers for not keeping up to date! The holiday season really does me in! I have some updates of pictures of past things I"ve made since my last post... I will post them individually to give each item the proper introduction!

Up first are my new homemade flowers! ALOT CHEAPER THAN BUYING PRIMAS! I got the idea off of this blog... I changed things up a bit, but got the same result...

WOW! Almost 2 months!

So sorry to everyone that has been following my blog. I'm being a terrible blogger! I have a few things I want to post- but cannot post until my partners Cyndi and Edee from the Cricut MB get their items. Hopefully by early next week I can post pics of a few things. Edee's stuff will not be completely opened until after Christmas... so you all will have to wait a bit longer...

On another note- I have been trying hard to save as much money as possible by using coupons, rebates, and finding the best deals possible. Have any of you ever heard of Ebates? Well, there's this website - www.ebates.com and you can shop through their site- almost like google, only if they have a store on their site- you can get a percentage back of what you spend as a rebate. Get Well Soon Tri-shutter Card

Thanks to one of the girls on the Cricut MB, she gave me the instructions on how to make a tri-shutter card. I am really happy with how it turned out! Thanks Jessica! I made this card for a friends mom who is battling cancer. I hope this card makes her day.

I used Bazzil Basics for the base, The Paper company for the solid cardstock, and Me and My big ideas paper for the deco. I used some fibers and stamps I had to dress it up. I had some Prima Flowers that I think complimented it well as well! I will definately be making these cards more often! In the end it fits into an A2 envelope!

Winter Layout

Hello everyone! I bet you've been wondering where I have been lately! I've been here- just staying busy! I've been working on swaps for the Cricut MB. I love that place! I just finished a swap and thought you all would like to see!

This is for my high quality layout swap. it has to be a double page- and you basically need to put all your heart and soul into it. It took me two full days to assemble- but it took me two weeks to decide what I wanted it to look like. I think I've succeeded. My thoughts to get across on this layout were snow- snow with some sparkles, and white. I used the Storybook cartridge for everything on this layout. I used DS to weld the word WINTER together. I chalked all the pictures and embellishments with Dew Drop Versa Magic Chalk Ink. They are my favorite, and I can't seem to buy those colors here anymore! :( I used Martha Stewart glitter on the word WINTER, and I used Polar White Flower soft for the snow effect. I had some mini stars from something that I threw in the snow with to help sparkle. I used stickles to embellish a word from each torn edge on the left side. I also used Recollections Pointsetta 3-d stickers to add that pop. I welcome any comments! I used Bazzil Basics for the base cardstock and the white card stock. You will see in one picture that has the flash- there's a pearlized look to the background. Then without the flash you can see alot of other details.

I have been so busy I feel horrible for those who follow my blog regularly! I can show you two things I've done for swaps and are mailed out now! :) It lifts soooo much off your shoulders once they've been sent out! I am also including a picture of the diaper cake I made for my SIL's baby shower!

The green background is the 8x8 recipe swap I was in, and the light blue background is the 2nd group of my fall/winter layout. I hope to get started on my double page layouts this weekend- waiting on a few things first! :)

I used stickles and chalking on the recipe page.

I used Stretch Your Imagination and Alphalicious on the let it snow layout.

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

Sorry it's been so long! I've been one busy woman! I'm working on swaps for the Cricut MB! I am ADDICTED to that! I have committed myself to 12 swaps! I really enjoy it! I have 2 of them done- and hopefully will be done with the next one tonight! I have to create 6 of the same layout- here's what I made for this one! I think it gets the point across!

I used the Alphalicious with Design Studio and Stretch Your Imagination Cartridges for this layout.
