Home is Where the Heart is... GIBBS

Hello everyone! Thank goodness it's Friday!!!

Today I'd like to show you one of my favorite items in the GIBBS Swap I participated in. This word was "Home is Where the Heart Is." I combined it with the word "Wordbook." This is the creation I came up with:

Close-up of the cover:

I created this using Cricut Design Studio, using Plantin Schoolbook. I embossed various sections using Traffic Jam and Spots and Dots Cuttlebug embossing folders. I used white wash core'dinations paper, and sanded them to get a total color difference. I love these papers, and am totally addicted to the line! I used alabaster and dark brown cat's eye chalk ink to chalk the edges on all of the pages. I used Stampin Up Hemp Twine to bind the book. I used Stampin Up large eyelets, and Stampin up old Olive ribbon on the front, along with Diamond Glaze to accentuate the flowers. I used various ribbons to decorate otherwise... I decorated with a piece of grungeboard that I decorated with distressed ink, perfect pearls, and stickles.

I hope you have enjoyed what I have shown. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!!!

Summer Falls Into Autumn GIBBS

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Today my post is an altered notebook. I really like doing this and intend to make them more often! I made this altered notebook for my partner on the Cricut Messageboard. The word was "Summer Falls into Autumn." She is a teacher, so I thought the computer generated saying "Summer Falls into Autumn, and then starts a new school year" fit perfectly in this situation.

I got a notebook from the dollar bin at Michael's, and covered it with cardstock, chalked it with dark brown cat's eye chalk ink. I created a pocket on the inside so she can store any papers inside, notes or whatever. I took a mini library clip from Stampin Up and put it on the side so it was easy to open, and hold anything important. I had a leaf punch that I used to cut the leaves on the sentiment. I used martha stewart fine glitter to add some bling. I tied ribbons on the side to dress it up a bit. I am very happy with my first try at this!

Please let me know what you think! I love comments and constructive criticism!

Birdhouse for GIBBS

This is a mini birdhouse I made for my partner on the Cricut Messageboard. The swap is called GIBBS- "Girls I'm Broke Box Swap." I found it on the blog Project Tuesday... Heres the exact link for the inspiration I got. I am happy with how it turned out. I used this for the word "Birds of a Feather Flock together."

For the bird I used Animal Kingdom. The house was cut from a template. I chalked the edges with dark brown Cat's Eye Chalk Ink. I dressed it up with a few prima flowers and some skittles. I had fun with it! Please tell me what you think!!!

Handmade Paper Flowers

Here is my first attempt at making handmade paper flowers using scallop circles out of any old book paper! You can go to your LSS and use their accucut die to get scallop circles, or any of you who have nesties ( I do not... hmmm may be a new purchase! LOL!). I used Tim Holtz's version of glimmer mist, and glittered them up using diamond glaze, fine glitter, and coarse glitter.

Ebay has been my best friend

Hello everyone! Happy Thursday!

I have been a busy bee finishing up a swap for the Cricut Messageboard! I will post pics of most of them next week. I really love alot of the stuff I have made for Michelle! I have been contemplating keeping alot of the items myself, but I also found something I can make and sell for my fall and winter craft shows! You'll have to wait and see!

So the reason for the title about Ebay being my best friend.... I have ordered cartridges off of Ebay for MUCH MUCH cheaper than any store! Most were under $30, and one was $32.
Here is the list:

Songbird
Heritage
Winter Woodland
Give a Hoot

and the retiring cartridge- Christmas Noel!

Can anyone tell me what their fave cuts are from these cartridges? I'd love to hear! Even if you have a link to some cool projects made with them, that would be awesome! Thanks for looking and I hope to post some new projects here soon!

Easter Baskets

Sorry, to post this late, but this past weekend has been super duper busy! I made these baskets on Friday and this is the first chance I've had to post them! I hope you all had a fantastic Easter! We sure did! If there wouldn't have been such a wind, the weather would have been PERFECT!!!

Well, lets get on with the Easter Baskets, shall we?

Items used to make 1 basket:
1 12x12 sheet cardstock
1 2x12 inch piece of cardstock
1 12 inch piece of grosgrain ribbon
ATG gun
MS Scoreboard

Score the 12x12 sheet at 4 and at 8 inches, rotate sheet and do again at 4 inches and 8 inches. Then fold all lines inward. You will need to make the corners shaped into triangles and adhere to the sides. Take the 2x12 sheet of cardstock and score at 1 inch. Fold in half, take atg gun and put one strip of adhesive down the center of the handle. Adhere the ribbon to the center of the adhesive. Take the handle and put adhesive strips on each end of the handle and place inside one of the folds, and adhere the fold to the handle. It sounds much more difficult than it is when you sit down to do it.
ENJOY!
HAPPY MONDAY!
Comments are greatly appreciated!!!

Daffodil Card

Good Morning Everyone!

Here is a Daffodil card I made that you could use for any occasion.

I used the Abundant Hope Daffodil Stampin' Up Stamp using StazOn ink. I used pop dots to make the image 3-D. I also used my new addiction- epoxy stickers by recollections to put the little blue and green dots on the two opposite corners.

I colored the stamped image using Prismacolor pencils and the gamsol technique.

I think it turned out nice. Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think! Thank You!

Fairy Friend Card

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

Here is a cutsie friend card I made using a fairy Inkadoo clear stamp. I stamped the image using Timber Brown Stazon Ink. I colored the image using Prismacolor Pencils and the gamsol technique.

I chalked the edges of the yellow cardstock and the stamped image using Dark Brown Cat's Eye Chalk Ink. I used some bling to jazz it up, some prima flowers, and a cute epoxy sticker I got from JoAnn's. It says "A friend is a gift you give yourself." I pierced the edge of one side, and used a scallop scissors on another edge, then distressed the edges of the yellow cardstock. I used Popdots to make the image 3-D.

Please let me know what you think!

Skunk Bday Card

Here is the first boy card I made that I really like. Its funny and great for all ages!

I cut the skunk from Animal Kingdom, layered it, and chalked it before putting it on the shadow so the black didn't cover the image. I used pop dots to get the 3-D effect, and used 3 black brads to finish it off... I used a computer generated sentiment saying "Hope it doesn't stink." I used a stamp for the "Happy Birthday" Sentiment with Jet Black StazOn ink. I also used Gelly Roll Sakura white pen to add the final touches...I love how it turned out!

Please let me know what you think!

My first set of twinchies

Here are my first two sets of twinchies I made for a swap on the Cricut MB. I used Bazzil Cardstock for the "Thinking of you" Twinchies, and Bazzil Cardstock and MS Paper for the "buttons" Twinchies. I chalked the "Buttons" twinchies with Versamagic Dew Drop chalk ink. I used stickles to dress up the buttons. I punched the buttons with the MS punch.

I used Timber Brown StazOn ink to stamp the thinking of you image on the "thinking of you" twinchies, I also inked the edges with the same ink. I used pop dots to raise the sentiment, and used my white sakura Gelly Roll Pen to add some doodle dots to the dark purple part of the twinchies.

If any of you are wondering what twinchies are, they are 2x2 squares decorated, and used to embellish scrapbook pages or cards! I plan to use mine for cards! Especially if I am in a hurry!

Sympathy Card

I made this card for a friend of mine. Her mother passed away last week after battling cancer. She was a very strong woman, and I have sent her mother a few cards to cheer her up after chemo and radiation treatments. I used the Martha Steward Ladybug Edge punch, white Gelly Roll pen, Epoxy recollection stickers, a mulberry paper flower (unsure of brand), and an SU stamp for the sentiment. The inside says "so very sorry." It was very hard to make a sympathy card. I hope it brings a smile to her face. That's all I am shooting for!

Thanks for looking! Leave a comment to let me know you stopped by!

Happy Tuesday!

Terrific day for a Birthday Card!

Happy Terrific Tuesday Everyone!!!

Today, as promised, I am showing the birthday card I made. I really like the effects with the glitter that I used. I am addicted to the JoAnn's Essentials Crystal Glitter... it's on sale at JoAnn's this week! I used prismacolor pencils with the gamsol technique on coloring the image. I received this image in a stamped image swap on the Cricut Messageboard. Isn't it just darling?! I used stickles to jazz things up a bit here and there, and chalked the edges with VersaMagic Chalk Ink Dew Drop. I am unsure of the maker of the ribbon I used, but I love the effect it leaves with this card! I also used some of my own decorated skittles to finish the card off.

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think!

My very first ATC card

Good Morning to all of my fellow followers!

Today I am showing you a picture of my very first ATC card I made for a swap that I am in. If you are wondering- "What does ATC mean?" Well ATC stands for Artist Trading Card. They are 2.5"x3.5" in size. They come decorated, and artists trade them.

The theme I had to use was something using the first letter of your first name. Well, mine is "J". So, I had this cute stamp sitting right in front of me- Lord knows I was thinking on what to do for the letter J for a while now!- so I saw it and ran with it. This is what I came up with. I used StazOn Olive Green ink, Stampin Up grosgrain ribbon, chalked the edges another one of my favorite things to do, used my own decorated skittles, a flower made with sizzix sizzlits Floral Fusion, and run through the big kick with Stampin Up's perfect polkadots. I then secured them with a brad and decorated the brad with glitter. I really am falling in love with this JoAnn Craft Essentials Glitter! It looks like sugar! ENABLER ALERT: JoAnn's has this glitter on sale for buy one get one 50% off from March 7th- March 13th!

Thanks for looking! And as always, have a wonderful day!

blog candy! Megan from Above Rubies Studio has sweetened the candy by adding a Cricut A to Z DVD! Thank you Megan!

Thanks for looking!

Colored stamped image, and watermarking tryout...

I colored this image for two people. My best friend, and my friend/partner in my GIBBS ROUND 2 swap! I really like how it turned out! I used Prismacolor pencils using the gamsol technique. I will be putting this image on a card...

I also am trying out watermarking my images using the free photoshop online. So far it's not too bad. Definately different than what I am used to doing for posting pictures on here, but it is a trial and error!

Please tell me what you think about this image. I really really love receiving comments! Makes me feel like people are actually looking at my blog!

I need to thank my friend Jessica for sending me such a cute SUGAR NELLIE stamped image! Isn't she just sooo cute???!!

Check out Above Rubies Studio to see what I did with this image! She's sweetening my blog candy by including a CRICUT A to Z DVD!!! SO, that means there will be 2 winners.

Please follow the rules in the previous post: DON'T FORGET TO BECOME A FOLLOWER, COMMENT ON MY BLOG CANDY POST, AND POST A LINK TO MY BLOG IN YOUR BLOG!!!

Birthday Card for my Mother in Law

I am really happy with how this card turned out!
HERE'S WHAT I DID:

For this card I used divine swirls as the embossed background. I chalked the edges of the sentiment with Purple Hydrangea and chalked the edge of the card with Aegean Blue. I went with alot of purple because this is her favorite color. I used the blue to kind of bring it all back in. I used 3 of my own dyed skittles. I used Frosted Lace Stickles on the cupcake edge for the frosted look. I used my opaque white Sakura Gelly Roll pen to put some dots on the "chocolate" color of the cupcake, and on the heart.

Birthday Card for my Sister in Law

I know it's not one of my best, but I do like how it turned out.
THE DETAILS:
The cupcake cut is from Gypsy Wanderings, and the background is embossed with swiss dots. I used stickles and JoAnn's Craft Essentials Crystal Glitter. I used Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive to apply the glitter. I used Timber Brown StazOn ink for the sentiment. I used VersaMagic chalk ink to chalk the edges of the sentiment and the edges of the card with Perfect Plumeria and Purple Hydrangea. I also used Eucalyptus colored Stickles on the lines of the cupcake. I then colored in the flower using the gamsol technique with Prismacolor Pencils. I then added little white dots with my sakura Gelly Roll opaque white pen to the flower and the edge of the sentiment. I also used pop dots to raise the cupcake for that 3-D effect.
Please leave comments and let me know your thoughts!!!
Thank you, and HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Embellishment storage

Here are some more organizing techniques I use...

Those of you who are avid scrappers and crafters need somewhere to put your brads, skittles, and stickles! I have a craftmates holder with the small compartments for my brads and skittles. They are organized by color.

Then, I have a scrapcessories bottle caddy for my stickles! They have alot of wonderful storage solutions! You should check out their site! www.scrapcessories.com

Jetmax Cubes

If you are a scrapper, you know that Jetmax cubes are "the thing" to have for your storage solution! Here's how I have mine set up. I like the large drawer on the bottom for organizing many different things like adhesives, reinkers, ink pads, glitter, embossing powders, etc...

I like the smaller shelves for storage of my stickles (will show how I hold them in my next post!), skittles, paper trimmers, and brads.

Some day my craft room will consist of all jetmax cubes- although I'd really like some pegboard to store all of my tools and unopened items so they all sit in front of me! You know that saying "out of sight, out of mind." Well, I sure do forget what I have sometimes, so it would be nice to have it all out in the open!

Happy Wednesday!
