What a disappointment!

Yesterday was the first craft show of 2009 for me, and boy was it BRUTAL! We had lots of people browsing- but not many buyers. My mom and my aunt also shared the booth with me, so they could sell their crafts too. It looks like the economy is really putting us crafters/vendors in a hard position! I sold 2 blank cards and a set of gift tags. My mother sold 1 candle, and my aunt had the better results than we did. She crochets, and had LOTS to choose from. She sold some dish towels, baby bibs, and some slippers. I hope the next craft show on April 18th does MUCH better. I think I will start to get discouraged otherwise! This week I would like to work on making some "squash books." I am hopeful of them, and think they will be a great addition to the things I sell at my craft events! I will keep you all posted when I finish one! I will be trying to be green with them and using recycled cereal boxes for the fronts and backs. It could be successful! (See- I am trying to be optimistic!)

Hot/Cold Therapy Bags

I've been working on a new project of Hot and Cold Therapy bags. They are made from Wisconsin Corn, and can be used as heating pads or Ice packs.

I will be selling them at my first craft show tomorrow at Bethany Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I hope they turn out, and sell well. I will also be selling my greeting cards, premade scrapbook pages, and if I have time to make some- some gift tags as well.
If you live in the area- here's the info if you are interested in going...

Happy Birthday to my daugher who is 7 today!

I made a centerpiece basket for her birthday party on Saturday. I added a little stuffed puppy in it, and some suckers as well (not shown). I had fun with it and will definately be doing this more often. I would like to make an Easter one as well. I used the Plantin School Book and Potpourri Basket Cartridges with my Cricut Expression. I love that thing the more I use it! I also made my daughter's birthday cake too.

Long time

Sorry it has been so long- a week I think! I've been preparing my household for my daughters birthday party this weekend! I've also been dealing with a sick son. I will post when I am finished making my daughter's birthday centerpiece. I have bought the wooden skewers hoping that will look nicer- and be easier to work with! Sorry to keep everyone waiting!

Baby Boy Centerpiece

I am behind- almost an entire week! Sorry for the suspense everyone! I made a centerpiece yesterday for a little boy that was born yesterday. Welcome to the world Robert Michael! I made this all with the Potpourri Basket cartridge- all sized at 3 1/2". I used stickles to add a little jazz to it, and some buttons as well. It was fun to make! I need to get those wooden sticks that everyone else seems to use- I used what I had, which were straws. Mommy of the new baby loved it! I had lots of fun making it! Will definately be doing this again!

I have been seeing some great ideas on the cricut message board- and created a set of blank notecards yesterday. I used stamping ink to edge all of the cards. They are measured 4x4, and I made matching envelopes for them as well! They are all made with the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge. I will definately be making more cards and such with this cartridge! There are endless possibilites! Today I will be working on the Daring cardmakers card. That should be fun- I've never made this kind of card before!

I'm slackin a bit...

Sorry to keep you all waiting for the next crafts I've created! I've been busy checking out all of the amazing help for this butterfly project. So far- there is a possibility that my daughters entire first grade class and the rest of the first graders in her school may be creating some beautiful butterflies for this wonderful project! There is also a possibility of her 4-H club doing this as well!

I have made a few more cards. I made a set of 4 neutral invitations (not pictured), and 2 cards. One with flowers and ribbon, blank inside, and the other is a welcome baby card.

Feeling the need to participate...

I was browsing some blogs while on my favorite cricut website when I stumbled upon a wonderful opportunity for anyone to help! Limelight Scrappers had started this- but they had a cut off date of today to be mailed. The project continues for quite a while- but I think it's a wonderul thing for people of all ages to contribute! Check out this site and see if you would like to help us! If you are interested in sending the butterflies to me- comment me with an email address or email me at youngsscrapping@gmail.com and I will send you the address to send your beautiful butterflies to me. I will combine them into one package to send all at once! Let your minds run free!

There are a few restrictions:
Butterflies should be no larger than 8x10 inches
Butterflies can be of any medium- but 2-d is preferred
Glitter should not be used
Food products should not be used

I want to thank Limelight Scrappers for showing this wonderful opportunity for people to participate- and would love to continue the project for the rest of you crafters out there! I will be asking my daughters class and 4-H club if they would also like to participate! I hope we can get lots of responses like the Limelight scrappers did!

I would like to set a date for this because I do have a child to be born in late July- I'd like to have all of your beautiful butterflies mailed by June 8th, 2009.
